Focus on Youth and Teen Mental Health

I’m honored to bring you this month’s ARJEachshav. So many wonderful voices are compiled within it, each of them bringing a different perspective to the topic of youth and teen mental health. In my own role as a congregational educator and rabbi, I have noticed that more and more of our young people are struggling with these issues, and in turn, I struggle with ways to help.

This issue of ARJEachshav features the words of Dr. Betsy Stone, our keynote speaker for our multi-location Yom Iyun and one of my favorite teachers. I hope you take inspiration in a text study on Leviticus 19, find the thoughts of our teachers from Beit T’Shuvah to be meaningful, and learn something a colleague in the field. I’m also proud to welcome a young person to the table, sharing her own personal experiences.

I’m grateful for this opportunity to open the discussion for our Yom Iyun, and I look forward to the conversation that continues within our organization.

Rabbi Phyllis Sommer, RJE is the editor of ARJEachshav.
