Responding to World Events as an Educational Leader

Sadly, we live in a world in which both natural and man-made disasters happen much too often with with devastating effects. It is important for ARJE chevra to be able to learn in a timely manner about the impact of these disasters on our members and their communities, available resources for helping our students deal with disasters, and information about places where donations can be sent.

As we saw with the recent Moore, Oklahoma tornado tragedy, one place to get that kind of information immediately is the URJ disaster relief page. Another place, shared by ARJE member Nechama Moscowitz, is the Cleveland JECC’s “Response to Crisis” website.

For news that specifically relates to our ARJE membership and their congregations, the ARJE Facebook page, accessible only to ARJE members, is an excellent source of timely information and updates. Because it is a closed group, if you are a ARJE member who is not already part of the ARJE Facebook community, click here to make a request to join. Our members are using the Facebook page for many other discussions beyond sharing disaster information; be sure to join so you don’t miss out on any of the news.
