The Hebrew Union College’s Executive Master’s in Jewish Education’s pre-course, EDU5000, offered me something I didn’t know I was missing. Having worked in incredible congregations alongside amazing clergy and educators, I had gained so much experience, but I hadn’t yet found my own voice as a Jewish educational leader. XED500 gave me the space to do just that. Through Jewish text, new pedagogical lenses, and conversations with dedicated educators, I was challenged to think differently, recognize areas for growth, and discover new possibilities for my leadership.
That first taste of the “EMA” experience led me to a community of colleagues who have become friends, mentors, and people I still turn to for questions, challenges, and celebrations. That growth has extended beyond the classroom. From Assistant Director of Religious School to Director of Religious School, the EMA has helped me grow in confidence as a leader and strengthen the trust my congregation places in me.
The EMA has given me the opportunity to grow into the leader I want to be. EDU5000 gave me a first glimpse of what that journey could look like.
